Find your voice. Build your skills. Make memories that last a lifetime.

Opera Montana’s Youth Opera Program gives students in 5th–9th grade the opportunity to grow as young artists while becoming part of a welcoming and creative community. Through weekly rehearsals, performance opportunities, and workshops with professional artists, students develop the skills and confidence to express themselves onstage and discover the joy of performing.

Led by Youth Chorus Master Jessica Graf, the program provides foundational training in singing, musicianship, acting, stage performance, and collaboration. Students will learn what it takes to prepare for a performance while gaining valuable experience working as an ensemble and bringing stories to life.

The program is divided into Fall and Spring semesters, with opportunities to perform and learn from guest artists connected to Opera Montana’s productions. This fall, students will participate in a master class and performance with Kate Morton, a Wheels of Harmony artist and Juilliard graduate.

More than a performing arts class, Youth Opera is a place for students to try something new, challenge themselves, form meaningful friendships, and create experiences they’ll remember for years to come.

Students will have the opportunity to:

  • Develop foundational skills in singing, acting, musicianship, and stage performance
  • Build confidence and stage presence
  • Learn from professional opera and musical theatre artists
  • Gain real performance experience
  • Collaborate with other young artists in a supportive environment
  • Develop a deeper appreciation and understanding of the performing arts
  • Make lasting connections through a shared love of music and performance
