Emerald Hart-Ullman serves as the Director of Community Engagement at Opera Montana, where she is dedicated to making opera accessible, welcoming, and meaningful for audiences across the state. In this role, she develops partnerships with schools, community organizations, businesses, and local leaders to expand access to the arts and create programs that connect people through music. Emerald was born and raised in Billings, MT.

Emerald brings a unique blend of experience as an educator, performer, and arts administrator. Before joining Opera Montana, she taught middle school choir for 3 years in Belgrade, MT, where she built a vibrant music program, directed the Drama Club performances, and fostered a lifelong love of music in her students. Her background in music education continues to shape her approach to community engagement, emphasizing collaboration, creativity, and inclusive learning experiences.

As a performer, Emerald has appeared with Opera Montana in several productions including, but not limited to, Ragtime, Sweeney Todd, and Hansel and Gretel. She is also an active member of Montana’s performing arts community, appearing in productions throughout the valley like Rent, Mary Poppins, and Annie. She has also spent time serving in artistic leadership roles.

Passionate about connecting communities through the performing arts, Emerald believes that opera has the power to inspire, educate, and bring people together. She is proud to help build meaningful relationships that ensure Opera Montana serves audiences of all ages and backgrounds.
