Emerald Hart-Ullman serves as the Education Director at Opera Montana, where she is dedicated to creating meaningful, accessible, and engaging learning experiences through opera and the performing arts. In this role, she develops and oversees educational and community programs that connect students, educators, families, and communities with opera, music, and storytelling. She works to expand opportunities for young people to experience the arts, build confidence through performance, and discover the power of creative expression.

Born and raised in Billings, Montana, Emerald brings a unique blend of experience as an educator, performer, and arts administrator. Before joining Opera Montana, she taught middle school choir for three years in Belgrade, Montana, where she built a vibrant music program, directed Drama Club performances, and fostered a lifelong love of music in her students. Her background in music education continues to shape her approach to arts education, emphasizing collaboration, creativity, accessibility, and inclusive learning experiences.

As a performer, Emerald has appeared with Opera Montana in productions including Ragtime, Sweeney Todd, and Hansel and Gretel. She is also an active member of Montana’s performing arts community, appearing in productions throughout the valley including Rent, Mary Poppins, and Annie. Her experience onstage, in the classroom, and in artistic leadership roles gives her a well-rounded perspective on the transformative role the performing arts can play in the lives of young people.

Emerald is passionate about helping the next generation discover their own voices through the performing arts. She believes opera can inspire curiosity, build confidence, foster empathy, and bring people together. As Education Director, she is proud to create opportunities for students of all ages to learn, perform, and find their place within the world of performing arts.
